Travel Information

At only fifty miles from London, Cambridge is generally easy to get to, no matter which way you choose to travel - there are several transport options. St John's College provides useful travel information on its website.

By Air

Cambridge is within a 30-minute bus or train journey from London’s Stansted Airport (STN) where many of the European budget airlines fly to and from. With its regular local train services, Cambridge is also within easy reach of London’s Heathrow (LHR) and Gatwick (LGW) airports as well as Birmingham International Airport (BHX).

By Train

The simplest way to get to Cambridge from London and elsewhere in the UK is by train, with services running regularly night and day. Trains from London, for example, run every 15 minutes from both Liverpool Street and King’s Cross stations, the journey taking from 45 to 90 minutes dependent on the time/type of train service. There are also rail links with Birmingham, Norwich and Peterborough stations. To check train services and plan your journey, please contact:

National Rail Enquiries: Tel: +44 (0)20 7278 5240

Web: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

Once you have arrived in Cambridge, the city centre and St John’s College are just a short bus or taxi ride from the train station.

By Coach

Regular buses run to Cambridge’s Drummer Street Bus Station every hour from all major airports, as well as National Express coaches to and from all major cities in Britain. To check coach services and plan your journey, please contact:

National Express: Tel: +44 (0)870 5808080

By Car

Driving to Cambridge is an option, although with restricted parking and a complicated one-way system, it is perhaps not the easiest one! The city does, however, have good road links to the rest of the country and lies near the M11 motorway and the A14 main road.

If you are driving to the city, you make like to consider making use of one of Cambridge’s many Park and Ride points. For more information, please visit:

For the locations of car parks in Cambridge city centre, please download the
Parking Information page. Please note that the car parks nearer the city centre have relatively short maximum-stay times.  There is a car park at St John's College that can be used at £5 per day.  Please collect your ticket from the Cambridge Conference registration and information desk.
