CC: The Exchange 2009

The 2009 CC The Exchange conference takes place on 12–15 July 2009 and is part of the successful and very popular Cambridge Conference series, which has established itself as the premier gathering for senior executives of national mapping and cadastral organisations from around the world.

Entitled ‘Mapping: our role in a turbulent world’, the conference will bring together the heads of mapping and cadastral organisations from all around the world, to discuss and agree on the actions that the geographic information (GI) community can undertake to alleviate the problems brought about by the economic issues we face.

The global mapping and cadastral community is a highly cooperative one and the Cambridge Conferences, tracing their roots back to 1928, have an illustrious history of sharing information about technical advances and addressing issues and problems of the day.

The 2009 conference will be no exception and will go straight to the heart of today’s global economic situation and how mapping – and the improvement of mapping management – can contribute to solving its problems. Now more urgent than ever, the risk to our global environment will also be addressed, with a keynote speech by Professor Jacqueline McGlade, Executive Director of the European Environment Agency.

As always, networking and informal face-to-face meetings of senior executives from countries all around the world, with different economic experiences to share, have a particular value. These are facilitated by the social events outside the main conference, which take place in the notable city of Winchester and include a tour of the historic Winchester Cathedral.
